A New Day

Skirt: Target (exact - I also love this one)
Top: Target (exact)
Sweater: Hollister (from high school!) (similar
Shoes: Marshalls (similar)
Watch: Loft (similar)
Necklace: Target (another option)
Bracelets: Alex and Ani (1, 2)

Friends, I am in love with Target's new line of clothing, A New Day.

Ok, let's be honest, I love most things from Target (the dollar section gets me every time), but I'm especially fond of this particular line. Their fall colors are dreamy and items like this skirt are great transition pieces as we start saying "farewell" to summer and "hey there" to fall.

I also find the clothes to be super work appropriate which has been key to my shopping lately. Basically, if I can't wear something to work, chances are, I am not going to buy it...

Oh, and the skirt has pockets, so it's pretty much the best thing ever.

Here are a few other items from the line that I have my eye on:

What are your favorite outfit tricks to transition into fall?

Peace,
Sarah

Athleisure

More and more it has become acceptable and even fashionable to wear yoga pants, sneakers and a tee while out and about. Whether you're running errands or grabbing coffee with a friend, comfort seems to be becoming the new chic - and I gotta tell you, I don't hate it.

I mean, more often than not I am lounging around the house in leggings and a tee-shirt anyway. Now I just need to toss on shoes and an accessory or two and I'm all set. Love. It.

I recently learned that this look has a name: "athleisure". With the combination of work, school and everything else, I've probably been leaning more toward the leisure side of things lately... I'm sure you all can relate. But then again, leisure implies relaxing which is not exactly the case in the midst of graduate school.

This weekend I had the privilege of attending the Bloguettes Branding Workshop in San Francisco which is where I got this adorable "The Internet Need Me" tee. The workshop was amazing! I learned SO much and met so many absolutely incredible women. I can't wait to incorporate some of the new tools and ideas and goals. Eek. It was just so good, y'all! - but more on that later.

My little sister sent me this adorable Kate Spade Tumbler on a whim. No reason, just because. How sweet is she??

Tee: Thanks, Bloguettes!
Chambray: Old Pac Sun (similar)
Leggings: Old Navy (similar)
Shoes: (similar)
Earrings: Kendra Scott (exact)
Ring: Gift (similar)
Tumbler: Kate Spade (exact)

Again, super simple, super comfortable look. Leggings, a tee shirt and some tennies. Can't beat it.

It's probably the hustle and bustle of grad school that has shifted my style into more leisurely looks and comfortable pants that still look professional are a must. Luckily, stores like Betabrand have entire lines of athleisure clothing - including a section devoted to comfortable pants for the office!

What's your favorite "athleisure" look? How do you feel about this trending style? I'd love to know what you think!

Peace,
Sarah

Don't Just Fly, Soar! - And a Give Away!!

Like many of you, I am a Disney fanatic. I have used precious memory space on way to many quotes and songs from countless Disney films and always find joy and laughter while watching them. I've also found an appreciation for some of the references to pop culture or other jokes that were completely over my head as a child. There's always something new to catch and I love it!

So, when I was presented with the chance to try out one of Rooney and Renee's new Disney themed tees, I was thrilled to say yes!

Rooney and Renee's store has lots of cute tops for both him and her! I selected the "Don't Just Fly" tee in light grey mainly because I absolutely love Dumbo, but also because the script on the shirt was so pretty.

It's a classier, simple take on a graphic tee that allows you to still embrace your inner child while dressing like an adult.

The shirt was a bit larger than I anticipated - the woman's cut is closer to the typical men's in sizing fyi - but I was able to work with it. And the material is so incredibly soft that I didn't want to change out of the top at the end of the day!

Rooney and Renee has graciously offered to gift one of my readers with their very own t-shirt! Be sure to enter below!

Sweater Weather

Happy Wednesday friends! I hope your weeks are off to a great start. We're at that rough halfway point, but I know we can push right through to the weekend!

One of my favorite ways to dress in cooler weather is to toss a sweater over thick leggings with riding boots. It's incredibly simple, and depending on the sweater and boots you choose, also very chic.

These Old Navy ponte-knit leggings are the first thing I wear in the fall time. They are very thick which means they are very warm and there is no undergarments showing through - it's a win-win. I splurged on the boots at the end of last year (inspired by Fran) and couldn't be happier with the purchase. They're by far the most worn fall/winter shoe in my closet.

Do you ever have a color that you have to keep yourself from buying because it's all you've purchased lately? Wine/burgundy/oxblood, whatever you want to call it, is that color for me right now. It's my favorite color and since it's only really warn this time of year, I'm definitely getting my wear out of it.

 Sweater: Gap (similar)
Leggings: Old Navy (this year's)
Boots: Vince Camuto (very similar)
Purse: From Florence (similar)
Watch: Michael Kors (similar)
Bracelet: Alex and Ani (very similar)
Ring: Gorjana (exact)
Earrings: Anthropologie (another option)

As much as I miss the beautiful leaves in Ohio, I do have to admit that all of the sunshine we have here for fall is pretty nice.

What's your favorite easy, cosy fall outfit?

Peace,
Sarah

Rain, Rain, Keep On Coming!

As you may have seen on my Instagram, this week we finally got some rain in Berkeley!

I am pretty much always a fan of rain, and living in the terrible Californian drought has only increased my love for this cozy, cuddle-up-with-a-blanket weather.

To top it all off, I even got to wear the beautiful, Red Hunter Rain Boots! After I bought them last year there weren't any weather appropriate days to wear them (sorry, not going to wear rain boots if there's no rain), so they've just been sitting in my closet waiting... until now!

I bought the boots when they were on super sale just before Piper Lime closed. They marked them down from $150 to $88 and luckily had one pair left in my size! $80 credit card rewards plus free shipping meant that I bought brand new Hunter Boots in the bright red I had spent years admiring for under $10! Needless to say, I was am pretty jazzed.

I love the pop of red and the cheer it brings to an otherwise neutral outfit.

Because the boots are so bold, I chose to wear some simpler, gold accessories and my favorite seed earrings. Their little pop of red went beautifully with the boots, and to top it off, they're Fair Trade!

Chambray: Pac Sun (similar)
Tote: From Florence (similar)
Watch: Michael Kors (similar)
Bracelet: Alex and Ani (very similar)
Ring: Gift (simlar)
Earrings: Fair Trade Expo (other awesome Fair Trade options here)

The rain did eventually end and the boots had to come off, but I have high hopes that it won't be another year before I get a chance to wear them again.

Peace,
Sarah

When Fall Still Feels Like Summer...

It's fall, y'all! Crack out the pumpkins, apple cider, and beautiful oranges and reds because the best time of the year is here!

I would LOVE to be wearing some riding boots, flannel and a scarf, but alas, it's still in the mid to upper 80's where I am in California. Currently it's 88 degrees and feels nothing like a good old Ohio fall.

However, rather than stare longingly at pictures of my ideal autumn weather, I've decided to be thankful for the warmth and sunshine and keep on wearing the sundresses in my closet that I can (sort of) sneak by as not specifically for spring or summer.

Dress: Gap (similar)
Flats: Old from Target (similar)
Necklace: Charming Charlie (exact)
Sunglasses: Target (similar)
Tote: Market in Florence (similar)

Now, to be honest with you, I took these photos while I was in Portofino this summer... but, I wore the same outfit today (with a different pair of flats) and figured it would be silly to take more photos of it. So not only did I save myself time on my way to work this morning, but I also got to reminisce about my time in Italy this summer. Take me back, please!

I picked up this dress from Gap for under $20 this summer. It's a great piece for those days when the weather can't make up it's mind because all you have to do is toss on a nice cardigan (hello mustard!) and you're set. I'm a huge fan of wearing tights with dresses, so I'll definitely continue to wear this dress when the temperatures finally decide to drop out here.

On a random note, I finally had to toss out my teal Target flats :( We reached the point of no return in Italy so they did not come home with me. They will be missed. If anyone knows of a pair of inexpensive teal ballet flats, I am all ears!

Thanks for reading and I hope your fall is off to a beautiful start! If you're in the midwest, hit up an apple orchard for me please!!

Peace,
Sarah

The Last Days of Summer

I am loving reading new posts about fall styles and ideas, but I still have a few summer outfits to share with y'all and since it's technically not fall yet, I think I'm in the clear.

(Apparently I had a thing for holding my sunglasses at my face...)

I wore this super simple outfit on my first day in Florence. While a fun breezy dress is my usual go-to in the warm weather, a flowy tank with jeans is just as nice. And while in these photos the blouse is clearly for summer, I plan to add a navy cardigan to make it work and weather appropriate as the new school year kicks off!

Top: Lilly for Target (another option)
Jeans: Gap Factory (similar)
Watch: South Korean Boutique (similar)
Bracelet: Cinque Terre (another option)
Sandals: Target (similar)
Sunglasses: Charming Charlie (exact)
Purse: Coach, from Garage Sale - thanks mom! (similar)

The last photo is a tad over exposed, but I liked it and so I included it. Gotta love the benefits of writing your own blog, eh?

Thanks for reading!

Peace,
Sarah

A Rustic Crochet

I know, I know, it's been ages since I shared an outfit post and you all have been anxiously waiting and chomping at the bit. Right? (Yeah, riiight.)

I bought this top from Nordstrom Rack last fall (I think...) and have been in love ever since. The rust color is one of my favorites, but I do not have much of it in my closet. I also love the intricate pattern that gives it something extra but doesn't scream "look at me!".

I paired it with my olive shorts (last seen here) because the only other options were jeans and ended up loving the color combination. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am so happy with the purchase of these shorts. A little step outside of my comfort zone - wearing shorts and olive ones at that - has turned out great!

I bought the beaded bracelet on a trip to Whales while I studied abroad in undergrad. I don't wear it often and honestly don't remember even packing it, but I was definitely glad that I did for this outfit!

Top: Nordstrom Rack (similar)
Shorts: Old Navy - $10!! (exact)
Sandals: Target - sold out?! :(  (similar)
Purse: Coach, from garage sale. Thanks mom! (similar)
Watch: Boutique in South Korea (similar)
Bangles: Gifted - Thanks T! (another option)
Beaded Bracelet: Boutique in Whales
Earrings: Old (similar, LOVE these)

Today is my last day watching this little photo-bomber. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't ready to go home, but I will definitely miss him and his family. They've been incredible.

Also, taking photos with a little one running around is hard. I only managed to snag 10 photos and they were pretty slim pickin's. Shout out to all of you awesome mommy bloggers! You're rockstars!

Peace,
Sarah

Maxin' and Relaxin' All Cool

I've had this outfit post sitting in my drafts for some time now. I wore the outfit and my roommate took the photos at the very end of May, but between packing for Europe, going home to Ohio for a week, working like crazy to save up for Europe, etc... time slipped away and thus this guy waited in the queue.

You may recognize the clothes from my guest post on Roxi's blog. I referenced it as an outfit I would wear to go grocery shopping and if I recall correctly, that is exactly what I did on the day these photos were taken. (I had also gone to Bay Street for some clothes shopping, but shhh, don't tell.)

I picked up this sweater at the Banana Republic Outlet this fall for $7 (!!) and wear it constantly. It was the only one left on the rack and is definitely too large, but the comfort level outweighed the miss-sizing for me. Plus, it's great to have a big, baggy sweater for those days when you just want to feel comfortable and relax.

I paired the sweater with classic jean shorts (last seen here), a thrifted purse, and my favorite polkadot flats for a dash of pattern and a touch of color. Topped off with a messy bun, sunglasses and a great lip color, I was good to go.

Shorts: Gap Outlet (similar)
Purse: Thrifted (another option)
Shoes: Old Navy (similar)

Aaaand a blooper, because who likes being serious all of the time?

Sarah
